Winter Struggles

I personally struggle with mental health during this time of year for unspoken reasons. I want to share with you some tips to help mitigate these struggles:

  1. Continue engaging in activities you enjoy. Instead of making excuses NOT to do them, find a reason TO do them, even if it is for just 15 minutes a day. This can jumpstart us into better habits as long as we stick to it!

  2. Practice gratitude by sharing aloud, writing, doing favors for others, etc.

  3. Practice mindfulness by paying attention to your thoughts, feelings, and emotions without judgement. Control them with your breathing and mental dialogue.

By creating a habit with just these 3 tips, you will find yourself in a much better mental space, trust me.

Some food for thought if you are an animal lover like myself:

We don’t need to use animals as crutches to make us feel better, as that is too much to put on them, but we can use the excuse that they need us to be regulated to better live and work aside them. It is a common misconception that people need to lean on animals to feel better when reality is that animals make us accountable for our inner self. There is no better God-given ability than how animals can tell us what we need to know in any moment without words.
